December 17, 2007

The Nominating Committee has reviewed the written responses of the nominees for our next Bishop, and we have asked several of these to continue in our process. The next step will be telephone interviews that will be held early in 2008. We are on course to present the Diocese with three to five names on or around March 3rd.

Please keep the Nominating Committee and all those involved in our search process in your prayers in the weeks ahead.

The Nominating Committee has held telephone interviews with all the current candidates, and will be visiting a number of them in the weeks ahead. Interview teams will make these on-site visits during the next few weeks, and the whole committee will meet again in mid-February to hear the reports of the teams. The canonically required background checks are also in the works. We are on course to present the Diocese with three to five names on or around March 3rd.

Please keep the Nominating Committee and all those involved in our search process in your prayers in the weeks ahead.

February 19, 2008

By now, all of the interview teams have made their visits to the ministry locations of the current candidates. We will meet again this Saturday to review our findings and take the last steps toward presenting the Diocese with a slate of three to five nominees by the first few days in March.

Once more, we ask your prayers as we move through this difficult process of discernment.

April 17, 2008

We have run into a snag in our process, and things will take a bit longer than we had planned. Please click here to see today's note from the Standing Committee on the status of our search.

July 15, 2008

We have received several nominations during this second time of having nominations. At present, the Committee is reviewing the nominations and planning for telephone interviews and visits with those nominees we wish to continue in the process. We hope to have a slate to present to the Standing Committee by September.

August 12, 2008

Teams from the Committee are now making site visits to a number of applicants. We will soon meet and decide on a slate to present to the Standing Committee. We expect to do that by early September, with the Walk-About through the diocese by the Nominees about a month later. While the date of the electing Convention has not yet been set, it will probably be in November.

August 23, 2008

A slate of Nominees for the fifth bishop of Northwest Texas should be announced by the Standing Committee by the 15th of September. Information about the Nominees will be available on the Diocesan Web Site soon after that; as will be information concerning Nominations by Petition. The Nominating Committee rejoices to see this aspect of our charge nearing completion.
