Legislation was everywhere today, and the only things we did were on the floor. The first order of business was the Budget, and that took every second the rules for debate allowed, and then a bit more. The news on that front is grim--the Budget for this triennium is around $140 million is some $24 million smaller than last the last one. This mean some drastic cuts in program and staff, and a shortened General Convention for 2012. That was a painful time.
There was rather a lot of debate about a variety of social and political concerns, with the Convention very closely divided on whether we should take a stand on specific issues and, if so, what that stand should be. I liked some of what we did and didn't like some of what we did; and I figure that everyone else felt the same way.
I didn't take very many successful pictures today, and shots of the floor, which is all we have been looking at for quite a while now, can get old in a hurry. Fortunately, Cliff Craig took some shots with is iPhone yesterday during the Joint Session with the Bishops, and I'm including them below.
